Finn McCool crossed the Irish Sea to Scotland on his stone causeway. But, once there, he discovered his mistake: the Scottish giant, Benandonner, was very big. So big. HUGE, frankly. Finn decided that fighting him was A TERRIBLE IDEA. And so he ran. But Benandonner came after him, his massive feet going stomp… stomp… stomp along the causeway. Finn ran all the way back to Ireland, losing a boot in his panic. When he got home, he begged his wife, Oonagh, for help... To be continued...

The Giant's Causeway

a natural rock formation
on the north-east coast
of Northern Ireland,
the result of
a volcanic eruption
around 60 million years ago.
There are
about 40,000
basalt columns,
and most of them
are hexagonal.
But some
are circular,
like giants' eyes,
and one
even looks like
a gigantic boot.

Oonagh was small, but smart. She told Finn to get into the baby's bed and pretend to be an infant. Soon, Benandonner arrived and Oonagh went out to meet him… “WHERE IS FINN McCOOL?” Benandonner roared. “I WANT TO FIGHT HIM!” “Oh, I see. What fun!” Oonagh smiled. “I’m sure Finn would love that, but unfortunately he’s not here. Why don’t you come inside and wait for him?” Benandonner squeezed through the door with great difficulty. At this point, Finn cried “WAAAAAHHHH!” from the baby’s bed. “Don’t mind the baby!” Oonagh said. “Big… baby,” Benandonner frowned. “If the baby is that big, how big is his… daddy?” “Oh … ENORMOUS!” Oonagh smiled, “Tea?” “Um... no, I must get back to Scotland! So much to do! Bye!” And Benandonner ran all the way back to Scotland, smashing the causeway behind him so that the terrible Finn McCool did not follow. The end.
