Séance 2 : Asking the Right Questions
Are you living in the UK?
Est-ce que tu vis au Royaume-Uni ?
Do you have any advice for other young people looking to get into cooking?
Why has he been named one of the ‘25 Most Influential Teens’?
Where are you from?
- What → une chose · Who → une personne
- When → une date · Where → un lieu
Who won the last Google Grand Prize?
What makes this boy a ‘prodigy’?

Culture Box: Britain’s Got Talent
Britain’s Got Talent has been on ITV since 2007. It was created by Simon Cowell, and it belongs to the worldwide Got Talent family — there is a version in more than sixty countries, including La France a un incroyable talent. Any act, at any age, can enter: singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, dogs.
Four judges sit at a desk facing the stage, with the audience behind them. Each judge has a red buzzer: pressing it lights a red X and means no. Four X’s and the act has to stop. A candidate needs at least three yeses to go through. Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden have judged since the very first series; Ant and Dec have presented it from the start.
Since 2014 there has been one more button. Press the golden buzzer and gold confetti falls from the ceiling: that act goes straight to the live semi-finals, whatever the other judges think. Each judge and each presenter gets one for the whole series, so it is used for an act that makes the room stand up.
The semi-finals and the final are broadcast live, and it is the public who vote for the winner, not the judges. The winner takes a cash prize — £250,000 in recent series — and a place in the Royal Variety Performance, a charity show that a member of the Royal Family attends every year.

Irregular Verbs: the List to Learn
Tips: How to Stand Out in Public
- Be confident. Get out of the corner and into the spotlight. Look at the jury and the audience.
- Be prepared! Make sure that you have practised your audition piece beforehand. If you have notes, make sure you don’t depend on them. Speak loud and clearly when talking to the judges. Tell them your name and a bit about yourself, tell them a funny anecdote.
- Don’t be nervous — just give it your best. Take a deep breath and then begin your audition. It will be very nerve-racking, but just relax.
- Be friendly! You are more likely to stand out if you’re the chatty, sociable person, rather than the shy one that hardly speaks! So, come in with a big smile and do NOT have a blank face.
