Séance 1 : Ready for School!

  • Objectif : Comprendre une vidéo sur le contenu d’un cartable, nommer ses fournitures scolaires et décrire ce que l’on a avec le verbe HAVE.
  • Activités : anticipation « What’s in Arayah’s school bag? », vidéo In my school bag, vocabulaire des fournitures scolaires, des couleurs et de la taille, grammaire HAVE, le déterminant a / an, les adjectifs qualificatifs, lettres muettes et mini-tâche orale.
  • À retenir : Savoir nommer les fournitures scolaires, savoir dire ce que l’on possède avec HAVE (has à la 3ᵉ personne), et savoir choisir entre a et an.

Grammar Kit: HAVE au Présent

La conjugaison

HAVE se traduit par « avoir ». On l’utilise pour dire ce que l’on a ou ce que l’on possède.

  • À la 3ᵉ personne du singulier, have devient has.
Exemples

I have a ruler and a pencil case.

J’ai une règle et une trousse.

She has an English notebook.

Elle a un cahier d’anglais.

Utilisation

On dit ce que quelqu’un a dans son cartable ou sa trousse.

  • Tommy has a giant eraser.
  • They both have a nice schoolbag.
Astuce
  • Seule la 3ᵉ personne du singulier change : he / she / it has.
  • Pense à bien prononcer le h expiré : he / has / have.

L’idée générale

a (an) correspond au déterminant indéfini un / une en français.

  • On utilise a devant un son consonne.
  • On utilise an devant un son voyelle, pour faire la liaison.

In my pencil case, I have an orange highlighter.

Dans ma trousse, j’ai un surligneur orange.

Utilisation

C’est le son qui compte, pas seulement la lettre.

  • En anglais, il n’y a ni masculin ni féminin : on emploie a pour tous — a boy, a girl, a pen, a ruler.

L’idée générale

On utilise un adjectif pour donner des précisions sur le nom (couleur, taille…).

  • L’adjectif se place devant le nom.
  • L’adjectif est invariable : il ne prend jamais de -s.

  • En français l’adjectif s’accorde, mais en anglais jamais : blue scissors (et non blues).

Rhythm & Sounds: Les lettres muettes

L’idée générale

En anglais, certaines lettres s’écrivent mais ne se prononcent pas : on dit qu’elles sont « muettes » (silent letters).

  • know → le k ne se prononce pas
  • write → le w ne se prononce pas
  • listen → le t ne se prononce pas
  • eight → le gh ne se prononce pas

Écoute les mots, entoure les lettres muettes, puis répète-les à voix haute.

  • Fais bien attention à l’écart entre l’orthographe et la prononciation.

Speaking Task: Look inside my school bag!

The task
Draw your school bag — your real one or an ideal one. Then present it to the class and name the objects inside it.
Dessine ton cartable — le vrai ou un cartable idéal. Puis présente-le à la classe et nomme les objets qui sont dedans.
Speak from your drawing, not from a script. A little help: label the objects. A little challenge: use only the pictures and add colours and numbers.
