Complete the text: Marta’s Canada
Canada is a really diverse society. I was born in Canada but I am of Polish descent. Most of the people in my class have different origins as well. They are proud to be Canadian but also identify with their family’s heritage. We are at a bilingual school. It is both French-speaking and English-speaking. Those are our official languages.
Complete the Conversation: Annie Visits Marta
- Annie: I can’t wait to come to Canada! Am I going to see lots of moose and polar bears?
- Marta: Haha maybe, but Canada is more than animals and snow! Most Canadians I know have never even seen those animals. You definitely won’t see a polar bear because they live up in the north. It’s really far away and difficult to get to. Most Canadians live in the south close to the American border. We can go to a national park close by though!
- Annie: That will be great. I would really like to see the Canadian lakes and woods. And I must say I’d also like to catch a glimpse of your prime minister!
- Marta: I can’t promise you will see him but we can go to the capital, Ottawa, and see the government buildings.
- Annie: Cool! And I’d really like to eat Canadian food as well.
- Marta: Ok, I know what you must try: poutine! It’s fries, cheese and gravy and it’s awesome!
