Culture Box : UK Schools and Charity Events

In the UK, most schools regularly organise charity events — and students are at the heart of it all.
Au Royaume-Uni, la plupart des écoles organisent régulièrement des événements caritatifs — et les élèves en sont le moteur.
What kinds of events?

UK schools organise all sorts of events to raise money for charity: gala evenings, sports tournaments, themed days, cake sales, and sponsored runs. Each class or student group chooses a cause they care about.

Comic Relief and Red Nose Day

Comic Relief is a famous UK charity launched in 1985. Every two years, schools take part in Red Nose Day — students dress up, do challenges, and buy red noses to support people in need around the world.

Sport Relief

Sport Relief is the sporting sister event of Comic Relief. Schools organise sponsored runs, bike rides, and swimming challenges. The money raised goes to projects fighting poverty and injustice at home and abroad.

And in France?

Does your school also organise charity events? Think about it: what cause would your class choose to support, and what kind of event could you organise?
