Séance 1 : Hi! I'm Tom Gates!
- Objectif : Découvrir Tom Gates, un personnage de dessin animé britannique, et apprendre à comprendre un extrait vidéo grâce à une stratégie d'écoute.
- Activités : Anticipation à partir d'images, visionnage de la vidéo « Hi! I'm Tom Gates! », repérage de Tom, de son école et de son ami Derek, mise en commun de ce qui a été entendu, puis début du scrapbook de Tom.
- À retenir : Savoir comprendre une vidéo en observant les images, en écoutant les voix et les sons, en repérant les mots accentués et en dégageant le message.

The books
Tom Gates is a series of books written and illustrated by the British author Liz Pichon. The first book came out in 2011 and won a prize for the funniest children's book. Every page is full of doodles.
The character
Tom is a funny 10-year-old schoolboy. He loves music and drawing in his exercise books. He has an older sister, Delia, a best friend, Derek, and a band called DogZombies.
On screen
The books were made into an animated TV series in the United Kingdom, The Brilliant World of Tom Gates. Children can watch Tom's adventures at home and at school.
Why so popular?
Children love Tom because he is funny, cheeky and just like them. His books are read all over the world and translated into many languages.
