Séance 1: A generous nation: Oxfam & RSPCA
- Objectif : découvrir deux associations caritatives britanniques (Oxfam et la RSPCA) et comprendre leur rôle et leur histoire
- Activités : lecture et compréhension d'info cards sur Oxfam et la RSPCA ; réponses à des questions de compréhension avec aide à la différenciation (Fiche 22)
- À retenir : le vocabulaire des associations caritatives ; les faits clés sur Oxfam (fondée en 1942, plus de 1 200 boutiques) et la RSPCA (fondée en 1824, 70 000 animaux aidés par an)

There are over 160,000 charity organizations in the UK. Most charities have shops all over the country. Charity shops raise a lot of money for good causes. Here are some of the most famous British charities.
Charity
OXFAM
Established in Oxford in 1942, Oxfam raises money by selling anything people choose to donate, including books, clothes and toys.
Their first "charity shop" opened in 1948.
Oxfam aims to provide food and medicine to people in need and to promote fair trade around the world.
Oxfam France is also known as "Agir ici pour un monde solidaire" (AMS).
Oxfam now has over 1,200 shops worldwide.

RSPCA
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA): established in 1824, the organization finds homes for 70,000 animals every year.

Dear Diary,
I was SO nervous before I went on stage — my hands were shaking! I kept telling myself: Melissa, you should relax. Everything is going to be fine.
And it was! I juggled five balls without dropping a single one. When I finished, everyone smiled and I felt so much better.
The best part? If I win, I would like to support a children's charity. My teacher said that was a great idea. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Help! I have no idea what to do for my school talent show!

I'm going to participate in my school talent show but I'm scared. A lot of people will come to the show: pupils, teachers and parents! And everybody will make fun of me if I mess up. I imagine I will have about two minutes to show my talent but I have no idea what I am going to do. I want to impress my friends and family but how?

You shouldn't be scared. Why not do something easy but which shows your talent? What about reciting a poem, juggling, doing a magic trick or dancing? If you mess up, you shouldn't worry. Just keep going.
