« Created by HBO, Westworld is a science-fiction/western series based on the 1973 film of the same name that was written and directed by novelist Michael Crichton. The story takes place in Westworld, a technology-advanced western-based amusement park populated by life-like robots called the « hosts » that have been created by partners Arnold Weber and Robert Ford. There, those who can afford a ticket – « the visitors »- can experience living without limits. The hosts allow the guests to live out their wildest fantasies without harming humans. »

We are going to practice video comprehension by watching the first thirty minutes of episode one of Westworld. The video will pause after each scene giving you enough time to write what you have understood. Prepare to share your ideas with the class.

Act it out
In groups of 2-5
You are going to act out a scene from the first episode of Westworld.
- Choose a scene from the episode. You cannot choose the same scene as another group.
- Prepare your script! Keep the same characters and places, but change the scripts so it is not the same as the episode. Your script should, however, carry the same message. You should also keep the same mood!
- Choose a character and practice. You may cut characters from your script! You are equally allowed to play multiple characters.
- Present your scene in front of the class. In the order that it appears in the episode.
