  • Highlight the evolution of the place of robots in our lives.
  • Compare the two images together; what are our possible futures?

Answer the questions in writing. Be prepared to read your answers to the class.

  1. Present the two characters in this extract (their jobs, how they look/feel/sound).
  2. Comment on the setting (colours, shapes, places), and the intonation of both voices. Describe the atmosphere they create.
  3. Account for the superiority of one of the characters and explain the end of the scene.
  4. Write Dave’s message to his base where he explains the situation and warns them about what robots plan to do on Earth.

Research the synopsis, and the roles of robots in the following four films/TV shows:

  • Westworld
  • Alien
  • The Matrix
  • Ex Machina

Read the text and answer the questions

Get into pairs, and choose who is A, and who is B.

  1. Group A: List the positive uses of robots.
    Group B: List the negative uses of robots.
    Use the information from the films, and the documents seen so far in the sequence, as well as your personal experience. 
  2. Together, write an article giving your opinion about the impact a robot could have on people’s lives. Aim for 200 words.
