Your thoughts on the project

  • Your feelings towards the project.
  • If this project will create a dialogue about immigration.

Verb+ed

Write about the three +ed prononciations.

/t/ sound: When the base verb ends in an unvoiced sound (like p, k, f, s, sh, ch), the « -ed » ending is pronounced as /t/. For example:

  • « walked » (/wɔkt/)
  • « jumped » (/dʒʌmpt/)

/d/ sound: When the base verb ends in a voiced sound (like b, g, v, z, zh, j), the « -ed » ending is pronounced as /d/. For example:

  • « grabbed » (/ɡræbd/)
  • « moved » (/muvd/)

/ɪd/ sound: When the base verb ends in the sounds /t/ or /d/, the « -ed » ending is pronounced as /ɪd/. For example:

  • « started » (/stɑrtɪd/)
  • « needed » (/nidɪd/)

Classify these verbs into three prononciation categories (/t/, /d/, /ed/)

  • divided
  • picked
  • explained
  • disappeared
  • painted
  • looked
  • crossed
  • erased
  • moved
