Look at these two sentences:

A: « I am your father’s boss and I need to talk to him. »

B: « Is your mummy here? I talk to her? No, she’s busy. »

Mr Brown had a problem with Mr Brown’s computer, so Mr Brown decided to call Mr Tyler who would certainly help Mr Brown. A little boy answered the phone but the little boy said the little boy’s parents were busy and the little boy could not pass the phone on to the little boy’s parents. The little boy’s parents were talking to a policeman. Mr Brown heard a sound and asked what the sound was. The sound was the sound of a helicopter. The helicopter was used by a search team. The little boy said the search team was looking for the little boy. The little boy found the situation funny.

Put on a British comedy show!

Write and perform your own comedy show – Groups of four

Step 1 – Choose jokes

  • Search the internet to find five or six funny jokes you would like to perform.

Step 2 – Imagine your sketch

  • Discuss with your group and transform your jokes into dialogues that you will act out.

Step 3 – Rehearse

  • Learn your jokes and dialogues by heart and practise acting them out.
  • Remember to be both funny and easy to understand!

Step 4 – Put on the show

  • In turns, each group comes on stage and performs in front of the class.
